Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 4, 2026
LanternLines ("we," "us," or "our") provides an AI-powered phone answering and appointment-booking service for local service businesses (our "Business Customers"). This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices available to you, whether you're a Business Customer or a caller whose call our service handles on a Business Customer's behalf.
1. Who this policy covers
This policy applies to two groups of people:
- Business Customers — the companies that sign up for LanternLines to handle their missed calls, after-hours calls, and appointment booking.
- Callers — the customers and prospective customers of our Business Customers whose calls are answered by our AI voice agent.
2. Information we collect
From Business Customers: business name, contact name, email, phone number, and any information submitted through our contact form or during onboarding.
From callers, when our AI agent answers a call on a Business Customer's behalf: call audio recordings, call transcripts, caller phone number, and any information volunteered during the call (such as the reason for calling or preferred appointment times), which is used to route the call, answer questions, and book appointments.
3. Call recording disclosure
Calls handled by our AI voice agent may be recorded for quality, training, and service-improvement purposes. Where required by law — including California's two-party consent requirement under Penal Code § 632 — callers are informed at the start of the call that the call may be recorded, and by continuing the call, the caller consents to that recording.
4. How we use information
- To operate the AI voice agent: answering calls, routing them, and booking appointments
- To improve the accuracy and reliability of the service
- To communicate with Business Customers about their account
- To comply with legal obligations
We do not sell caller or Business Customer information to third parties.
5. Service providers we use
We rely on the following third-party providers to operate the service. Each processes data only as needed to provide their part of the service:
- Twilio — telephony (call routing and connection)
- Retell AI — the conversational voice AI that answers calls
- Cal.com — appointment scheduling
- Supabase — data storage
- Cloudflare — website hosting
6. Data retention
We retain call data for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service to Business Customers, improve the service, and meet legal or contractual obligations. Recordings and transcripts are treated as two separate commitments, because they carry different risk:
- Call audio recordings are retained for ninety (90) days, after which they are deleted.
- Call transcripts and structured call data — such as caller name, callback number, reason for calling, and booking details — are retained for twelve (12) months, after which they are deleted or de-identified.
7. Your rights
California residents have rights under the CCPA/CPRA to know what personal information is collected about them, request deletion, and opt out of certain uses. To make a request, contact us using the details below.
8. Cookies and website analytics
This website does not use cookies, does not use third-party analytics or tracking scripts, and makes no third-party requests. The missed-call cost calculator on this site runs entirely in your browser and does not save or transmit the figures you enter anywhere, including to us.
9. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect information in our care. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
